The Disappearance of Josef Mengele

Josef Mengele (August Diehl), the SS doctor of Auschwitz, flees Germany after the war and begins a life in hiding that carries him from Buenos Aires to Paraguay by way of Brazil. His son Rolf (Max Bretschneider) tracks him down, and Kirill Serebrennikov watches a man who has arranged to never stand trial be made to face what he did. Mengele spends the years not on guilt but on staying free, and the film leaves that plain fact in front of us.
