The Disciple

“If you want to walk this path, learn to be lonely and hungry.”

In present-day Mumbai, Sharad Nerulkar (Aditya Modak) gives his days and nights to Indian classical vocal music, studying under the aging Pandit Vinayak Pradhan (Arun Dravid). He practices in small rooms, performs at modest concerts, and keeps faith in a teacher's standards. Chaitanya Tamhane follows him as the mastery he has sacrificed for stays out of reach, and with it the life he chose.
