The Divine Sarah Bernhardt
“When passion transcends the stage, legend is born.”
Sarah Bernhardt (Sandrine Kiberlain) is already the world's first star in 1915, free, modern and known for her eccentricities, when the film turns to the love story that marked her life. Guillaume Nicloux moves between the legend and what may be her own fantasy, with Laurent Lafitte as the actor Lucien Guitry. Kiberlain plays her with bittersweet grandeur, the Divine Sarah in the middle of the frame, and Louise's portrait of her nearby.
