The Doorway to Hell

Louie Ricarno (Lew Ayres) runs the rackets and has had enough, so he hands the whole business to his second in command and announces he is retiring to Florida with the woman he plans to marry. His associates are stunned, and he has no idea that she and the man he trusts with his empire are lovers. Archie Mayo, working from a Rowland Brown story, plays it in the plain, shadowed manner of early sound crime pictures.
