The Double Life of Véronique

(1991)Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski98 min · RDrama, Fantasy
“Each of us is matched somewhere in the world, by our exact double - someone who shares our thoughts and dreams.”

In Poland, a young soprano named Weronika has a double in France, Véronique, who has her face and her ear for music, and the two have never met. Krzysztof Kieślowski follows each woman through her own days, and Irène Jacob plays both. Véronique, a music teacher, takes up with Alexandre Fabbri (Philippe Volter), a puppeteer, and she feels a loss she cannot name.
