A group outing from a mental hospital goes wrong in New York City when their chaperone, Dr. Weitzman (Dennis Boutsikaris), witnesses a murder and ends up in a hospital in a coma. That leaves Billy Caufield (Michael Keaton), Henry Sikorsky (Christopher Lloyd), Jack McDermott (Peter Boyle) and Albert Ianuzzi (Stephen Furst) alone on the streets. Howard Zieff puts the four side by side, Henry in his baseball cap, Jack in his collar, Albert chewing, all of them walking.
