The East

“A war between duty and conscience.”

Johan de Vries (Martijn Lakemeier) is a young Dutch soldier sent to Indonesia after the Second World War, hoping to do his duty in a colony that no longer wants the Netherlands there. He is drawn into the elite squad of Raymond "De Turk" Westerling (Marwan Kenzari), a commander whose methods grow harsher by the week. Jim Taihuttu puts Johan between his orders and his conscience, and every mission he accepts raises what staying will cost him.
