The Elementary Particles

Michael and Bruno grow up as half-brothers in Germany, raised by a hippie mother more interested in her own affairs than in them. Oskar Roehler picks them up as adults, Michael (Christian Ulmen) a molecular biologist who cares more about genes than women, Bruno (Moritz Bleibtreu) a man who pays prostitutes to satisfy his appetites. Then Bruno meets Christiane (Martina Gedeck), and Michael runs into Annabelle (Franka Potente), the love of his youth.
