The Emperor and the Golem

(1951)Directed by Martin Frič144 minComedy, Fantasy

Emperor Rudolf II (Jan Werich) rules Prague badly, and some in his court are already plotting to take his place. He thinks he has found a cure for his imaginary illnesses in the legendary Golem, until he vanishes on a bender and his kindly baker, who looks exactly like him, is mistaken for the Emperor. Martin Frič shot it in color, and the baker is left to set a kingdom in order.
