A naked man walks out of the sea and into a nearby town, where he starts performing miracles for anyone who will watch. José Mojica Marins plays Finis Hominis, the stranger who sets himself up as a modern messiah, with Madalena (Teresinha Sodré) among the townspeople he draws in. Marins trades the gothic dread of his earlier films for dry, tongue-in-cheek humor, and Finis Hominis keeps preaching with a straight face, sure his deeds will reach the whole world.
