The End of the Day

Raphaël Saint-Clair (Louis Jouvet) was once the adored Don Juan of the stage, and he arrives at a home for aged, penniless actors with his old charm still on him. The other residents, among them the eternal understudy Ernest Cabrissade (Michel Simon), spend their days on past glories and past failures. Julien Duvivier follows the old passions and jealousies stirring again, and Saint-Clair is left carrying the man he used to be.
