“In love, there are no boundaries.”

In the 1930s, Almásy (Ralph Fiennes), a Hungarian map maker, crosses the Sahara with a team of explorers sent by the Royal Geographical Society to chart the desert. Anthony Minghella, adapting Michael Ondaatje's novel, moves from those expeditions into the Second World War, where Almásy's life gets tangled up with Katharine Clifton (Kristin Scott Thomas). Love, betrayal and politics are all on the table, and every one of them can cost him.
