The Evil Dead

(1983)Directed by Sam Raimi85 min · NC-17Horror
“The ultimate experience in gruelling terror.”

Ash (Bruce Campbell) and four friends want a cheap weekend away from college, so they drive out to a rented cabin deep in the woods. In the cellar they find a Sumerian Book of the Dead and an audio tape, and Sam Raimi has them play it. The fear here comes from five young people alone and far from help, with nothing between them and whatever they have let in.
