The Fabulous Baron Munchausen

Astronaut Toník (Rudolf Jelínek) lands on the Moon expecting to be the first man there, and finds Baron Prášil (Miloš Kopecký) already walking around it with Cyrano de Bergerac (Karel Höger) and Jules Verne's heroes. Karel Zeman mixes live actors with cutouts and animation, and the picture looks like a Gustave Doré engraving come to life. Beneath the tall tales, it argues that a good lie, told with enough nerve, can carry a person further than the truth.
