The Facts of Murder

Inspector Ingravallo (Pietro Germi) is a police detective in Rome who takes on a murder and finds the answer buried under a crowd of neighbors, relatives and servants. Among them are a maid, Assuntina (Claudia Cardinale), and a cousin (Franco Fabrizi). Germi directs and stars, adapting Carlo Emilio Gadda's novel, and he stays on Ingravallo as the questioning drags on, the detective tired and unhurried.
