The Fall of the House of Usher

Madeleine Usher (Marguerite Gance) is gravely ill, and no one in the mansion will say why. Allan (Charles Lamy) has come a long way to visit his old friend Sir Roderick Usher (Jean Debucourt), only to find a decaying house, a sick wife, and a husband who has stopped looking outward. Jean Epstein, working in 1928 and from Poe's story, builds the dread out of how he frames the house itself.
