The Family Game

A tutor arrives at the Numata apartment to raise the grades of Shigeyuki (Ichirôta Miyakawa), the younger son, a middle schooler with an entrance exam coming and no interest in it. Sho Yoshimoto (Yūsaku Matsuda) answers to a father (Jūzō Itami) who barely looks up from his work, and to a mother (Saori Yuki) who keeps the household running on routine. Yoshimitsu Morita sets the family in a single line along the dinner table, facing the camera instead of one another.
