The Fan

“All fans have a favorite player. This one has a favorite target.”

Gil Renard (Robert De Niro) is the San Francisco Giants' most devoted fan, a man who measures his days by the team and has no one to measure them against. When center fielder Bobby Rayburn (Wesley Snipes) signs for $40 million and then sinks into the worst slump of his career, Gil decides to help his idol, whatever that takes. Tony Scott follows a love for a stranger that has quietly stopped being about the game.
