The Final Countdown

(1980)Directed by Don Taylor103 min · PGWar, Action, Science Fiction
“Trapped outside the boundaries of time and space... 102 aircraft... 6,000 men... all missing.”

In 1980, the nuclear carrier USS Nimitz is on routine manoeuvres near Hawaii when a vortex-like storm swallows the ship. It comes out the other side in 1941, only hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Capt. Matthew Yelland (Kirk Douglas) commands the carrier, and Warren Lasky (Martin Sheen), a civilian observer aboard, is the one who understands what has happened.
