The First Great Train Robbery

(1978)Directed by Michael Crichton110 min · PGThriller, Adventure, Drama, Crime
“Never have so few taken so much from so many.”

Edward Pierce (Sean Connery) is a master criminal in Victorian England who plans his crimes the way other men plan a voyage. He has his eye on a shipment of gold that rides a moving train, and he brings in the lockpick Robert Agar (Donald Sutherland) and the inside woman Miriam (Lesley-Anne Down). Michael Crichton lays out each step of the plan in procedural detail, and the gold keeps moving, mile after mile, on the train.
