“The battle for eternity is the fantasy of a lifetime.”

In a Chinatown pawnshop, a staff of old wood shows up that has no business being there. Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano), a teenager who knows every kung-fu movie by heart, picks it up and wakes in ancient China, hunted and out of his depth. Rob Minkoff sends him on the road with a drunken Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a Silent Monk (Jet Li), and the two warriors quarrel and trade lessons until the boy belongs among them.
