The Forbidden Room

A submarine crew, a pack of forest bandits, a famous surgeon and a battalion of child soldiers each have a goal, and each is dragged somewhere stranger on the way to it. Cesare (Roy Dupuis) and Margot (Clara Furey) sit among the story's many faces, with Louis Negin and Udo Kier turning up as one character after another. Guy Maddin and Evan Johnson stage it all as a pile of damaged, flickering old-film images, one story spilling into the next.
