The Four Feathers

In the 1880s, as the British Army prepares to sail for the Sudan and the war against the Mahdi, Harry Faversham (Heath Ledger) resigns his commission. His friends and his fiancée, Ethne (Kate Hudson), answer by sending him four white feathers, each one a charge of cowardice. Shekhar Kapur shoots the march into the desert with a wide, bleached light that makes every man look small.
