The Four Times

(2010)Directed by Michelangelo Frammartino88 minDrama
“Human. Animal. Vegetable. Mineral.”

The Old Shepherd (Giuseppe Fuda) lives out his last days in a hill village in Calabria, herding his goats and trusting the dust he sweeps from the church floor to cure him. He stirs a pinch of it into his water every day. Michelangelo Frammartino stays with the old man's small routines, and the film passes on from him in ways it never explains.
