The Fourth War

In the late 1980s, two colonels face each other across the German-Czech border, Col. Jack Knowles (Roy Scheider) for the Americans and Col. Valachev (Jürgen Prochnow) for the Soviets. Each commands a remote post of troops, and each has long since lost patience with the brass above him. John Frankenheimer follows Knowles after a defector is killed, a man who can no longer take orders and starts a private fight.
