“A story of two friends who didn't know they were supposed to be enemies.”

Nobody has told a young fox named Tod and a hound puppy named Copper that they are supposed to be enemies. Tod (Mickey Rooney) is taken in by a farm family, and the two spend their days tumbling through one scrape after another. Richard Rich and Art Stevens follow them toward the season when Copper (Kurt Russell) is expected to hunt, and a hound's job puts Tod squarely in his path.
