The editor of an American magazine's French bureau has died, and his staff has one issue left to put out. Wes Anderson fills it with three stories: an artist serving a life sentence (Benicio del Toro), student riots in the street, and a kidnapping settled by a chef. In the middle one, the writer J.K.L. Berensen (Tilda Swinton) covers a painter whose guard and muse is Simone (Léa Seydoux), the one person he lets look at him.
