“Gary Hart was going to be President. Instead he changed American politics forever.”

Gary Hart (Hugh Jackman), a former Colorado senator, enters 1987 as the clear favorite for the Democratic nomination, popular with young voters for his intelligence and idealism. Jason Reitman follows his campaign staff, led by Bill Dixon (J.K. Simmons), and his wife Lee (Vera Farmiga) as the press begins asking about his private life. A presidential run, a marriage, and a public name all depend on how he answers.
