The Fugitive

“Peril-Laden adventure ... of a man's desperate plight !”

The government of a Mexican state has banned the priesthood, and the last priest left in Tabasco is being hunted through the countryside. He is called only the Fugitive (Henry Fonda), and every village he passes through has someone willing to hide him or sell him. John Ford shot it on location in Mexico, and the priest's one steady companion is a Lieutenant of Police (Pedro Armendáriz), who is after him with a conviction that matches his own.
