Gary "Gaz" Schofield (Robert Carlyle) is a jobless steelworker in Sheffield with no money and a son, Nathan (Wim Snape), he is struggling to keep in his life. Desperate for cash, he talks his mates, among them Dave (Mark Addy) and Lomper (Steve Huison), into a one-night strip show that will go further than the Chippendales. Peter Cattaneo's film is about men with no work learning to be seen without the old jobs to stand behind.
