The Garden of Allah

(1936)Directed by Richard Boleslawski79 minDrama, Romance, Adventure
“Two loves in conflict!”

The film is set in the Algerian desert, where Domini Enfilden (Marlene Dietrich), a sheltered woman, goes after leaving the convent life she has known. There she meets Boris Androvsky (Charles Boyer), a man who keeps his past to himself and wears his silence like a coat in the heat. Richard Boleslawski gives the two of them the glare of the sand, and what grows between them is a tenderness each is afraid to name.
