“It takes two to make it … The big two.”

In Texas in 1972, Carter "Doc" McCoy (Steve McQueen) sits in a prison cell, a bank robber who wants out and has a wife working on it. Carol (Ali MacGraw) arranges his release, but the price is a bank job for Jack Beynon (Ben Johnson), and Sam Peckinpah follows the pair once the money is in hand. Mexico is the border they have to reach, with the police and Beynon's men both behind them.
