The Girl with a Pistol

Assunta Patanè (Monica Vitti) is a Sicilian woman whose lover has dishonored her, and she packs a pistol and follows him to London. Mario Monicelli sets her down in a city she cannot read, with a gun in her bag and a promise she has made to herself and her family. Vitti plays her as completely sincere about the killing, and the question is whether she will go through with it.
