“What is hidden in snow, comes forth in the thaw.”

Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), a journalist whose reputation has just been wrecked, takes a job from the aging industrialist Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer): find out what happened to his niece, who vanished forty years ago. The trail leads to Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), a pierced, tattooed hacker who works the files Mikael can't. Fincher sets them against a family willing to protect its secrets, and a long-buried case that someone still wants closed.
