The Girls

Tosya (Nadezhda Rumyantseva), a young cook just out of culinary school, steps off in a village lost in the northern forests. She pokes into everyone's business and tries to fix what she finds, including her first meeting with Ilya (Nikolai Rybnikov), who turns down her dance invitation and soon bets a friend he can win her over. Yuri Chulyukin makes the village a place where everyone knows everyone, and kindness is simply how people get along.
