“A Tall Tale About Little People!”

A lumber tycoon named D.J. Mulrooney (Walter Brennan) takes his grandchildren Elizabeth (Karen Dotrice) and Rodney (Matthew Garber) on a drive out to the redwood forests of the West Coast. There they meet Knobby (Walter Brennan), a 943-year-old gnome who needs help finding the rest of his tribe. Robert Stevenson's film sets the trees being cut down against the creatures who live among them, and a man like Mulrooney is the one placed to choose between them.
