The Gold of Naples

“A sextet of Neapolitan tales - six captivating stories - wry, delightful and dramatic with that special humor and temperament and that enduring zest for life that characterizes these volatile people...”

A clown is squeezed for money by a gangster, a pizza seller (Sophia Loren) loses her husband's ring, and a child's funeral crosses the street. These are three of the six stories in The Gold of Naples, with a gambler beaten by a kid, a prostitute's unusual wedding and a man selling advice (Eduardo De Filippo) still to come. De Sica moves between the episodes with a light touch and lets the city carry them.
