The Golden Compass

“There are worlds beyond our own. The compass will show the way.”

Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) would rather roam the halls of Jordan College with her daemon Pantalaimon (Freddie Highmore) than do anything she is told. Then she overhears a secret, and children begin disappearing, taken by a group called the Gobblers. Chris Weitz sends her north with seafarers, and every step brings her closer to the glamorous Marisa Coulter (Nicole Kidman), whose warmth Lyra can't help but trust.
