The Good Earth
“China… Land of unrest… Tomorrow they may starve!”
Wang (Paul Muni) is a poor farmer in Qing Dynasty China who marries O-Lan (Luise Rainer), a kitchen slave given to him in an arranged match. Sidney Franklin follows the two of them through the hard years that follow, with the land as their only living. The land is what keeps this family alive, and a little prosperity is enough to put their love and their survival at risk.
