The Good Lie
“Miracles are made by people who refuse to stop believing.”
Mamere (Arnold Oceng) and three other young men from the Sudanese Civil War win a lottery for relocation to the United States. In Kansas City, a brash American woman named Carrie Davis (Reese Witherspoon) is assigned to help them, and Philippe Falardeau follows their first awkward weeks among phones, supermarkets and strangers. Mamere carries the brother he left behind, and the film is about how much of home a person can keep once the distance gets that wide.
