Amy Loughren (Jessica Chastain) is a night-shift nurse with a heart condition, two young daughters, and no health insurance she can afford to lose. When Charles Cullen (Eddie Redmayne) joins her unit, he becomes the one coworker who covers for her and listens. Then patients start dying in ways nobody can explain, and Amy has to decide how much she is willing to put at risk to find out why.
