Blondie (Clint Eastwood) is a quiet loner who drifts across the Civil War Southwest, and he has a working arrangement with the bandit Tuco Ramirez (Eli Wallach) that pays them both. Then each man learns of a strongbox holding $200,000 in stolen gold, and the hired killer Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef) goes after it too. Leone shoots the dust and sunburned faces in wide Techniscope, with Ennio Morricone's score pushing every long, silent stare.
