The Governess

Rosina da Silva (Minnie Driver) wants to keep her family afloat after her father's violent death, so she hides her Sephardic Jewish background and takes a post as a gentile governess in faraway Scotland. In the Cavendish household she meets Mr. Charles Cavendish (Tom Wilkinson), and Sandra Goldbacher lets a secret affair take shape between them. The film is about how much of herself a woman gives up to be allowed a place.
