Monsieur Gustave (Ralph Fiennes), the impeccably mannered concierge of an Alpine hotel, is framed for a wealthy guest's murder. He flees with Zero (Tony Revolori), a lobby boy, pursuing a missing Renaissance painting and the fortune it promises. Anderson builds his story in nested frames and saturated colors, but what matters most is how a man and his young companion move through a world tipping toward ruin, salvaging small dignities where they can.
