The Grandfather
“Love or honor? How can one choose?”
With his son dead, the aging Don Rodrigo de Arista Potestad (Fernando Fernán Gómez) comes back to Spain from the United States, carrying one question about his two granddaughters: which is his blood, and which is the bastard. José Luis Garci adapts the Benito Pérez Galdós novel, and Doña Lucrecia Richmond (Cayetana Guillén Cuervo), the widowed daughter-in-law, holds the answer. Rodrigo sits with the two girls, an old man studying their faces for his son's features.
