The Grapes of Wrath

Tom Joad (Henry Fonda) walks home after a jail sentence and finds the farm empty, the house abandoned, his family gone. He tracks them down at his uncle's place, where Ma Joad (Jane Darwell), Casy (John Carradine) and the rest are loading up to head west for California. John Ford follows them down the road, and Ma holds the family together while the foreclosure takes everything else.
