The Great Silence
“His voice was the silence of death!”
Bounty hunters are working a snowbound territory, and outlaws too hungry to stay in the hills are the ones they hunt. A gunslinger who cannot speak, Silence (Jean-Louis Trintignant), takes the side of those outlaws and of a young widow who wants revenge, facing Tigrero (Klaus Kinski) and his men. Sergio Corbucci writes law and killing as business done under a stamp of authority, and the film treats that cruelty as ordinary.
