In the Cold War, an arms manufacturer dies and leaves his valuable military patents to his young widow, Amaranthe (Mireille Darc). Spies from several countries converge on her house, among them Francis Lagneau (Lino Ventura) and Eusebio Cafarelli (Bernard Blier), each ready to outwit the others for the papers. Georges Lautner crowds the house with rival agents, and Amaranthe sits at the center of it, the one person every man there is trying to win over.
