The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery

(1959)Directed by John Stix, Charles Guggenheim85 minCrime, Thriller
“Never before in Police annals! Never before in film history!”

George Fowler (Steve McQueen) is a college dropout who gets pulled into a crew of career criminals planning to rob a bank in St. Louis, Missouri. They study the building, go over the job, and rehearse it more than once, with a local youth brought in to help. Guggenheim and John Stix keep the camera on the preparation, so the film plays like a case file, all procedure and nerves.
