The Great White Hype

“If you can't find the perfect contender....make one.”

Rev. Fred Sultan (Samuel L. Jackson), the promoter behind the heavyweight champ, wants a fresh angle for the next big fight, so he tracks down the one man who ever beat him. That man is Terry Conklin (Peter Berg), a former boxer who is long retired and, as Sultan sees it, useful because he is white. Reginald Hudlin builds the film around the sale itself: a fight is only worth what the crowd can be talked into paying for it.
